Dolemite has Left the Building…..

The world is in mourning from the passing of a 70′s icon Rudy Ray Moore A.K.A Dolemite, he will always be remembered as that brother in those corny yet funny movies where his “Karate Kicks” were not as smooth as Bruce Lee’s but very effective on the bad guys, I have to say Rudy was an original, there was no one like him and he will be missed, he passed away Sunday at the age of 81, from complications of Diabetes.

The Friendship Show

Friendship

Friendship

Hey everybody sorry for the delay had some technical difficulties, it’s all squared away now, hey the show we had last Saturday was about friendship, and what it means to you here is a sample of what was said:

Kevin in Olympia says: You don’t think less of friends as you get older (not true) true friends are friends that keep up with you, younger people tend to put thier friends over family.

Shaun in Seattle says: Friends are good to have but one thing I have learned in 40 yrs of life is that friendship is not as important as family, alot of times people put friends over family.

Brenda in Kent says: It’s easy to make friends, but it is hard to keep friends.

Kenya in Renton says: It is true the older you get the less important friends become, you only stay with the friends who can really keep a true friendship alive.

Brian in West Seattle says: Friends are like bills, they only come around when they want your money!

Kathy in Kent says: It is true the older you get the less important friends do become, but it is always smart to hold on to at least 1-2 friends, because there is always a point & time in your life where you will need a friend to give you a helping hand.

Randy in Kent says: Having friends are overated, it’s cool when you are young but as you get older it is normal to lose touch with people, sometime it’s by choice.

Nicole in Seattle says: I think freindship is a journey I am in my 40′s and I still have friends from elementary school, through times and years we’ve grown together, there are times you have to cut them lose and that’s ok!

Well I have to agree with Brenda in Kent, It’s easy to make friends but it is hard to keep them, but it’s also good to at least have one or two close freinds to talk to!

Results from Saturday’s Show…

Hey everybody, another great show in the can good response and honest answers always make for a good show, the question we asked you was “Has R&B Music Lost it’s Soul”? ,also we wanted to know what High School you went to and when did you graduate! Here is a sample of what was said….

Wilma in Seattle (Marshall Town Iowa High c/o 81) says…….Who are the R&B singers of today? Very few artist there that are actually any good.

Sandy in Seattle says: She is old school, she believes you can’t replace artis such as Luther V. and Barry White, likes Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, and older Jodeci.

Lisa in Seattle (Rainier Beach c/o 91) says: It has lost it’s soul Erkyah Badu, Jill Scott are holding it down BET & MTV don’t really promote soul artist anymore, they need to do more to promote singers, also likes Robin Thicke.

Marcell (Garfield High School c/o 97) says: It has!! Musical roots have been washed out.

Frank P. says: No R&B hasn’t lost it’s soul, it just has many flavors, it’s the big record labels that don’t do anything to promote R&B artist, if they did a better job promoting then you’d see more soul artist, Soul music will always have flavor!!

Brianna (Garfield c/o 82) says: R&B ain’t been the same since the 80′s, today’s artist just don’t have the same love for creating music as Marvin Gaye and the Luther Vandross.

Devon (Texas Christian High c/o 87) says: Soul music has been dead for about 20 years now, today’s artist don’t know if they want to rap or sing, look at Joe he started off as pure R&B and now he thinks he’s hip-hop.

Jesse B. (Ballard High c/o of 83) says:Go Beavers! R&B music of today just ain’t the same as it was when I was growing up, it had more passion and didn’t have rappers rapping in the middle of the songs, what’s that all about?!! Thank you for playing Raphael Saadiq.

Well as you can see so many different answers, my personal opinion is that R&B has slipped, but it will never lose it’s soul, because there are artist out there who are fans of older music and they are taking the time to study and learn from the greats, as long as we have artist like that, then R&B music will always thrive!!
